A Photographic Journey

Like most everyone, these days, I find there is much to do and not enough hours in the day. My ‘todo’ list is endless and growing.  It’s overwhelming and sometimes I feel like I’m drowning.  Even though my work is creative and inspiring, there are still deadlines 😉

This is not a productive creative space to be in.

So when I read about PROJECTLIFE365 I decided to join.

PROJECTLIFE365 gives me a creative outlet that I committed to for 365 days.  I’m committing 10 minutes of everyday to being creative, it makes me stop and think about a daily inspiration, based on the guideline posted on PROJECTLIFE365.  This forces me to be creative and clears my thoughts so I can finish the ‘real’ work at hand.

I started an album on my Facebook page and I started using instagram as well to post and share my daily inspiration photos.  You can request to follow me, my user name is dinigroner.

There are no rules to the project but I put some guidelines for myself.

  • It must be a iphone photo

I didn’t want to take out my camera and download and edit which would demand to much of my time, besides, I’m using those tools for my everyday work, I wanted a different tool to explore with and to make it simple and doable.

  • Use a photos taken that day.

I wanted to avoid going into my archives, that can be a time drainer and it misses the point of this exercise.  I wanted to be sure I would take the daily inspiration and see how it applies to the day.  For Shabbos or Yom Tov I would use a photo taken the day before or after.

  • Not to be over critical

I didn’t want to add pressure to my life, I am looking for something fun.  So if it’s a little blurry, it’s ok.

  • If I miss a day, it’s ok, but just make it up as soon as I can 🙂
I’m looking forward to this journey and invite you to join me.

A Chanukah Treat

When a band has good chemistry, it’s a guarantee for a lively show. This past Tuesday my family was lucky enough to tap into the energy of 8th Day.  Just being in the crowd with these guys jumping around the stage was enough to get everyone singing along!  It was a beautiful Chanukah treat for the whole community.

Watching the brothers Shmuel and Bentzi Marcus, and their passion, reminded me of my own family. We’re pretty much music oriented, with my husband, Aron, on the drums and my son, Mendel, on the guitar.  I love getting a glimpse of that same family energy when my husband and son ‘jam’ together.

Boy To Man

He has the twinkle of youth in his eyes.

Peter Pan?  I don’t think so.  There’s no chance of him running away to Never-Never Land.

He looks like he’s ready to take on the cutthroat world of manhood;

he’s looking it right in the eye.

I can’t believe I’ve been photographing this young man since he was seven!

FAMILY

F-A-M-I-L-Y

A 6 lettered word that has so many different meanings.

You love them.

You can’t spend too much time with them; yet you can’t stay away for too long either.

But it’s the in between moments that make it all worth it.

Everyone is doing their own thing while pleasantly enjoying the company of three generations.

This has to be a very special way to spend your Thanksgiving morning.

Dimple Chic

They say it’s not easy to be beautiful, but this chic, little girl makes it look like it is.

Fully decked out in all of fall’s essentials:

Knitted, feather hat- check!

Cute, warm sweater- check!

And how can we forget the twinkly eyes, the big smile, and, of course, the dimples…but, these are chic in every season.

Wishing everyone a great Thanksgiving!

The Body Guards

Nothing says “built-in-body-guard” like two older brothers who simply adore their little sister. Yup, she’s got it good; mommy’s little angel and she’s got two big, excited brothers.

It’s easy to see why they’re so eager to welcome her into the family.

Tick. Tock.

Tick. Tock.

I most definitely enjoyed the extra hour of sleep that came with the changing of the clock this week.

Am I the only one or does the daily grind seem to fall pretty heavily this time of year?

Maybe its just the early nightfall. Either way, it just makes me look forward to snapping photos of newborns. They have such a serene aura to them. It emanates and gives the atmosphere a peaceful hum to it.  You can sense it just by looking at the photos…

Oh, Sandy!

Lovely girls surrounded by nature’s lovely fall colors.

Luckily, I took advantage of these cozy pom-pom hat and knit sweater clad girls playing in little bits of Autumn heaven before Sandy came and swept it all away.

That’s not the only thing she took; anyone else trying to carry on with out power?

But that seems to be the least of the Sandy’s devastation, she managed to leave thousands without homes and cars.

It feels like this could be something like the apocalypse.

But not really, there is a silver lining in this mess, it gives us some time to connect with our families and communities.

When else do we get ask our neighbors for an extension cord and have to spend time connecting it and testing if it works?

It surely allows for more bonding than the usual cup of sugar.

Hope everyone managed to stay dry and warm, and that we see the end of this soon!
